http://www.profitingforward.comTo succeed at attracted potential team members or customer Its All about how good do you write an effective headline. Because 90% of success or failure of any sales offer, whether a sales ad or Sales letter, is the Headlines. So I feel very strong about spending ample time on writing an effective headline.
A famous copywriter once said: When you are assigned to write an ad, write a lot of headlines first. Spend hours writing headlines—or days if necessary. If you happen to think of a headline while walking down the street of while riding the bus, take out a pencil and paper and write it down.”
John Caples
What does a good headline do?An effective headline is important for many reasons. These are as followed:
> Attracts attention;
> Communicates a strong benefit;
> Appeals to the self-interest of the reader. It answers the question, “What’s in it for me?”
> Sets the tone for your offer.
Here are some guidelines I use for the way a headline is written and presented.
>The promise must be believable
> Never use more than 17 words.
> Use quotation marks because it is more memorable.
> Use reverse type sparingly, because it is hard to read.
> Use upper and lower case letter—not all caps—for reading ease.
> If a large photograph is used, place the headline below it.
> Do not vary type size.
How to start writing great headlines………….Step 1 Step back from the product and identify all the benefits and features of the product---from the buyer’s point of view. Benefits help bring out emotions, which then closes the sale.
Step 2 Then isolate the strongest benefit you can find and put it on a 3 X 5 card, where this will lead you too what is called the “unique selling proposition” USP.
Step 3 Find the hidden benefit, what is that great benefit I’m going to get from you this, compared to what else was out their. For example read this headline “What will You do When the IRS Suddenly wipes Out Your Corporation Tax Shelter Benefits?”
Of Course, the book has narrative information about the importance of keeping good records to maintain the corporate protection. But, while it happens all the time, there is nothing whatsoever in the book about the IRS taking away benefits. That is why its call a hidden benefit. Write as many headline as you can.
Step 4 Test, Test, and Test some more.
It’s important to run new headlines for two reasons:
1. to see if you can beat it, and….
2. every headline eventually becomes tired and you need to change it. But not too soon!
You will get tired of a headline much faster than will your customers. If it is working---never, never, never, never change it—until, or unless, you beat the result with a new headline.
