Having a servant attitude; means thinking of others always and finding ways you can to help them, not yourself. If you’re always thinking about me, and what “I” can get out of this you’re a selfish person. Don’t get me wrong; we all need to have our me time, but not at the expense of getting over on or belittling somebody else. We have great examples of people with servant attitudes, Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Ghandi, Dali Lama, Malcolm X, Desmond Tutu, Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey and so many more. These individuals have help to make sooo… many peoples life better and have help to shape our world as well as give us examples of how we should live our lives.
Living a life of service is truly a fulfilling life, giving back to your community uplifts not only your community but yourself. Have you ever helped; truly helped someone without looking for a reward or a pat on the back for doing so. I have several times. While I’m writing this and crying because I remembered a long time ago when I was in high school in Jamaica a friend of mine had internal bleeding, because his small intestine was all tied up, I don’t exactly what this condition was called all I knew is that the doctors said he need a lot of Blood, or else he was going to die. An appeal to donate was made to the entire school to help, by going to the blood bank and donate blood to help our fellow, class mate, friend, and student. I stepped up and went to the blood bank to donate at that time I didn’t know I was a universal donor O+, I didn’t know that at the time I just wanted to help.
As a result of a lot of students coming together and donating blood his life was saved. He went on the represent my country in soccer (football) on the world stage where we qualified for the world cup for the first time in the countries history.
You see you never know how you’re going to impact history or the future just by one small act of kindness, just helping someone because it’s the right thing to do. I used to be selfish with my business and the things I learnt over the years, and I realized I was getting nowhere fast in moving my business or my life ahead I had to change how I was looking at my life as well as my business. So I started to apply my servant attitude to my business. I just started “telling instead of selling” my prospect about what I had to offer teaching what I’ve learned from others, just giving away my knowledge to anybody who would listen. The result in my life; has being amazing I felt happier, and our team has built great relationship with each other. I love the direction that life and my business is headed. The future is great because I’ve built my businesses on being a servant first to others that has developed into long lasting relationships.
When you become a servant to others your life will become more successful and in turn so will your business. So you should wakeup every morning asking yourself; “How many people can I HELP today”. Write it down some where you can see it every morning when you wakeup. Because when you write it down and view it everyday it helps you with focus your mind on helping and telling, instead of selling and failing. If you change the way how you look at things, the things you look at change.
